Quick Recap for Monday August 10th, 2009

SPRD tanked in the morning within 5 minutes. Was too asleep to watch it. The other 2 gained. I’m starting to hate the work required and the no work that sometimes accompanies it. Forex is the way to go!

Trading Playlist August 10th, 2009

Alright, a new fresh start! Got my TOS platform running, and I’m slowly recovering my losses from when I first started. Halfway there!

So Friday was not a god day. I tried shorting China and ignoring the techinicals which got me introuble. Though it wasn’t a huge loss, a loss is a loss.

I’ll be looking at new trades now.

CROX:  Crocs, Inc. This company manufactures those damn ugly shoes that were a huge fad a couple of years back. They’re still kicking and are even looking to expand in Asia. They released their earnings report last week and the stock jumped a nice 28%. They also got upgraded by an analyst. The funny thing is, they reported a loss and it still went up. Why? They beat the estimates.  Long term chart, it has broken the trend line. I’m betting on a small consolidation. I’m willing to short at the $5.40 mark.

OPXA: Opexa Therapeutics, Inc. I was notified of this on Friday morning, but I was too sleepy to care. (I was also just looking to rid my shares of CHINA). Anyways, this stock had jumped 300%. Which, of course is always very nice. They had announced an agreement that they were working with Novartis, a very large pharmaceutical company. I’m unsure how to play this just yet. I’ll watch for the tell-tale sign of a red day first before really commiting myself in. I’m betting that if it breaks the $2.00 mark convingcingly. I might jump in. We’ll see first. I’ll have a very tight stop for this one. Probably $0.15 above my entry. However, I have a feeling that this might go up a little bit more before coming down.

Side note, this is also a potential buy if it breaks the $2.50 resistance. And if it also breaks the previous HOD of $2.85, it’ll breakout further. Atleast that’s what I hope.

SPDE: Speedus Corp. I believe this one is also mentioned quite a bit too. I only remember the ticker symbols! Now that I’ve had a quick look, this is another juicy play! A small company (12.4M mark cap) released a press release that they have a new invention that’s been certified. This is a small tech company. Whoop-dee-fucking-doo. If you can’t sell it or market it, it doesn’t matter if there are no competitors, you’ll fail. And fail hard. Fluff news! I love it. Less than my ideal volume traded, but I’ll take it. Looking to enter if it breaks the $3.00 mark. Very very interesting. Me as it has jumped 283% on one day alone! THEY’RE BBBAAACCCKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And that’s all folks! Looking to play those 3 interesting stock plays! Number one play is definitely the last one, then OPXA then CROX. Good luck all!

Times a changin’ or a period of pause?

Although I haven’t written much lately because of my funds being out of play, I’ve been keeping an eye on the market. I’ve noticed that Tim’s type of plays are dissappearing. I’m hoping this is only for the time being, that retail investor’s are still scared and the pump-and-dumpers have exhausted their current clientele. In otherwords, plays are coming by fewer and fewer.

This strategy, I believe, works VERY well for those who are quite under capitalized for other systems that can allow for the market to breath without being stopped out. But that’s my feeling. I’ve yet to see too much of a jump, much like HGSI, so I’ll keep waiting. There’s always a sucker born every minute.

Finally funded TOS and ready to start! Watchlist 2.0

HGSI - This is Human Genome project bio company came up with some good results for treating Lupus. That and because it was upgraded twice, the stock jumped from around $3 to $12 overnight. It continued up today and gained another 10%. I’m willing to bet it will come down a bit, but probably not much. I believe if it hits past $13.50, it should go down by a dollar, maybe even only $0.50. Because I’m starting from scratch again, I’ve added it to my Top 5 watchlist, though I doubt I will play it. I’m not convinced it will go down.

BCRX - This Bio company went up 20% after it went from $4 to $6 overnight 2 days ago. It looks like there was a short-squeeze. Even though Motley Fool told people that it will fall, they didn’t wait for key support to be broken. They released good news on their drug. I’ll probably have to wait for it to break $7 before entering in. I’m hoping maybe I can cover it to around $6.60. Top 5 on my number 1 spot.

WNC - This stock has gone from $0.5 to a HOD at $1.16 today. Reason? They had received some injection of cash. Looks like there was a short squeeze in the morning as well which drove prices higher as well. They had received $35 million dollars (loan) and so, I’m watching this to learn this type of play. Top 5‘d.

GAEC - Energy company that has been climbing lately. Since July 10th, it has gone up over 400%. I’m unsure how much higher it will go. Long-term chart says it is way over bought now. I’m going to wait thsi one out. They released some fluff news last week. The volume is climbing, but I’d like to wait and see what plays out. I will add this to my watch list, but also Top 5‘d. I’d like to know what others think.

Alright, going to work on fixing that sleeping schedule now!

Sleepy Market

There seems to be a lull in the market for the past few days. This is why there have been a lack of posts lately. I’m also still waiting for Questrade to put my funds back into my bank account. It’s taking some time. I’ll make another post if I have found any wortwhile stocks. So far my searches have come up empty.

Didn’t feel like doing this today, but here it is. Watchlist June 18, 2009

So while I am in the process of switching accounts and funding the new one, I will update my watchlist just to prove to myself that my picks are sound. I need a record and what best way to do it than to put it up on a blog?

Top 5:
ALVR:
-2.11% Today was the first red day. Bulls vs Bear was an fairly even fight.
JAZZ: -1.06% Another fairly even fight day. Did not break the $3.70 mark convincingly.
MIPI: +6.73% Gaped up higher, though, closed lower than the open. First red day.
AIM: -22.62% Very tasty! Faded today, and broke the $6.50 support line.
MTMC: -22.50% Another winner today! Too bad this one only traded with 82,000 shares.

Watchlist:
ALXA:
-3.85% This stock did not fade, but had a downtrend in the morning. LOD% of -15.70%.
GWSC: +38.24% WOOO! Careful! This one spiked up on more fluff news! Good stuff.
GLUU: -7.09% Another illiquid stock that barely faded for the day. HOD at $1.45 5 mins at the open.
PGV: -10.46% Completely illiquid stock with only 20k shares traded. It tanked, but too dangerous.
MEA: +9.59% More pumping! Great if you got in. Go higher dammit!

Today’s market action was fairly quiet. I think right now, people are just settling down and reeling in from the losses. The PR firms are taking a breather and planning for the next round. Nothing really stands out today. All my indicators are fairly quiet. The watchlist is definitely shrinking and not by choice either. Oh well! Hopefully there will be some buying opportunities tomorrow.

Now, let’s prune the list for tomorrow.

ALVR: This stock has barley faded. There is still some good potential if it breaks the $4.20 support. It is still there from yesterday. The volume is fading, which is a definite good sign. They make another useless announcement, but oh well. If it can break the $4.00, it will tank lots. Otherwise, get out if it fails. It’s placed on my Top 5 still.

JAZZ: This one tried breaking the $3.60 mark as well and couldn’t. However, it also tried to break past the $4.00 resistance. We’ll see what it does. Top 5 still.

MIPI: This stock gapped up, but had its first red day. Weird eh? Another pharmaceutical company that thinks it can! Hah! New entry price is at $6.50. If it can break it, I’m in. Top 5‘d.

AIM: Had a HUGE down day compared to yesterday. Probably more downside if it can break the $5.00 mark. Lots of room till around $4.00. Still on my Top 5. Can I be wrong??

MTMC: It did well, it’ll probalby continue to do well, but it’s too illiquid for me. Removed.

ALXA: This one has gone a second red day. It will probably try to hit down $2.00 tomorrow. Volume fading and is a pharmaceutical company. Added to my Top 5.

GWSC: Pump! Pump! Pump! They released news on their future projects. So, that should’ve squeeze a few. We’ll see how it does tomorrow. For now, support is at $2.25. If it cracks, short!

GLUU: Has become a little too illiquid for me. It’s taken off my list. Not too much downside left. I need atleast a 20% drop so I can take in 10%. Left it on the watchlist.

PGV: Yay it dropped. Too bad it’s another illiquid stock. WAY too illiquid. Gone now.

MEA: Fuck, I lost the data on this one. Was watching a movie. It’s climbed up a second day. I hope it goes on more. Still on my watchlist.

CYCC: I’m adding this one back onto the watchlist. This is purely for long term. I was going back through my previous list and looking at the 6-month chart and noticed that it was making higher highs and higher lows as well. I believe there is another round of pumping waiting for this stock. This has been steadily climbing since April. We’ll see how this goes. It may fall off the chart eventually.

Why I’m switching out of Questrade and into ThinkorSwim

I’ve been trying to put off this move for a while. Initially, I wanted to make back what I lost before I switched. But now, I’ve given all up. Because of their lack of customer service compared to TOS, shares available to short, hidden fees and platform issues, I’ve decided to make things simpler and switch over to ThinkorSwim.

I was originally surprised at how quick and efficient TOS responds to my inane inquires from deposits to platform questions. They always got back to me within the day, and in fact, within a couple of hours by email. Furthermore, their staff is always friendly and knowledgeable.

One of the things I liked, was that when I signed up for Paper-trading and learning how to trade, a worker there named Pablo was kind enough to enable real-time quoting even though I didn’t have an account! Usually you need to fund your account first before being able to play properly. I was even using them as a charting platform when I traded with Questrade! I have nothing but praise for them and I have never had any problems.

Let me simply list out why this is a good move:

  • I can now reserve shares and choose to exercise them or not with no cost at TOS
  • There are no hidden fees unlike Questrade. They advertise $4.95 but that’s not the whole story
  • TOS has flat-pricing. $9.95/trade for max of 5,000 shares. Atleast you can see your statement in the platform and is updated right away unlike Questrade’s Penson Financial Balance lookup.
  • TOS is merging with TD Bank Financial Group. Good news, means easier funding and withdrawls
  • TOS offers free internet rebate! (Max value of $30 I believe)
  • TOS has award winning, easy-to-use platform. It is based on JAVA, so you can use it on a MAC, PC or UNIX Operating systems.
  • There are no confusing errors, and the platform/database don’t go down without notice. Required for daytrading!
  • Reserving shares is so important!

Well, there you have it. My short list as to why I’m switching over. I haven’t been able to action one trade this week on any of my pics. Even though IB has hundreds of thousands of shares to short on some stock, Questrade is without any. I’m tired of this. If I want to make back the money I lost, I need to be able to follow my system first.

Watchlist for June 18, 2009

Alright fellas. Lets get right to it. Today was a definite red day! Performance data go!

Top 5:
GLUU:
-20.63% This stock faded very nicely today. A LOD% of -72% at one point.
CYCC: -10.16% Choppy action, but had a huge sell off in the morning as well. Interesting…
PGV: -7.27% Morning sell off as well after it gapped up. A LOD% of -28.7%. Not bad!
EMKR: -7.69% Another morning sell off with a LOD% of -14.28%. W00t!
ALVR: +18.28% Had a morning panic, a short bonified squeeze! Fundamentally good news!

Watchlist:
JAZZ:
-0.79% Morning sell off to a LOD% of -20% before rebounding up to where it is now.
VVTV: +12.75% second run up. Had a HOD of $1.80 but very chopy and unpredictable.
ALXA: 0.00% Bumpy action today and finished at yesterday’s close, lower than today’s open.
GWSC: -32.00% Don’t get me started on this one; passing me by and there’s nothing I can do.

Hey! I like small lists! They take less time to work on and summarize! Anyways, as you can see, I’m getting quite good at eliminating the ones that don’t really perform as expected. Ideally, I’d like to have my Top 5 all red and the watchlist can be a mix of green and reds. I couldn’t find any shares to short. But that’s sorta ok. I woke up only 25mins late this time!! Getting better!! Still missed these great panics though…

I realize what my mentor has said is true; the morning panics, the ones in 30 mins or so, will make up for the day’s worth of trading. sometimes it’ll fade, but I love to get my money’s worth ASAP. GWSC still has long ways to go down. Something like that stock, I would just keep holding. It’ll probably go to around $1.00. That’s still another 70%! But alas, there are no shares available. I’ll be looking into that soon. Very soon.

GLUU: This mobile gaming company has had a crazy sell off today. This one blasted the $1.60 entry price in the first 5 mins. In fact, it’s charting pattern followed very closely of another one… If only I can remember it. It was listed on my yesterday’s watchlist. Oh well. If you were able to catch it, you should’ve made huge bank. I didn’t. That’s no surprise. There’s still some downside left, probably to low $1.00. I’ll move it down to my watchlist. It’ll probably gone by this Friday.

CYCC: Another stock that had only 300,000 shares traded today. It faded down nicely. It looks to have finished its potential. Lots of support around $1.00 range. Though its still fluff news that pushed it up, there’s not much downfall left. Removed.

PGV: I’m surprised not many people have jumped on this one. In fact, only 34,344 shares traded today! It had its first down day, I’ll switch it to my watchlist just because it is too illiquid and risky, but it would be nice to see and have confirmation, that this stock can still hit $6 lows.

EMKR: This too would’ve been great if I could’ve gotten in. It broke my entry price in the first 5 mins as well. However, it has now reached near the bottom and so, it is time to let this one go as well. T’was good stock. Too bad.

ALVR: This stock continued it’s climb. It’s gone up a bit more. In facted, it gapped up more than 10%. For now, I’ve left this one on my Top 5 to wait for its first red day. New support at $4.20 and entry around $4.15.

JAZZ: This stock had a huge reversal today. It followed the morning sell-off but rebounded back. It still finished lower for the day though, and thus putting out the ‘Cross’ candlestick. I’m thinking it’ll go down again, but it’s been rebounding after 2 red days. It has tried to break past the $3.75 mark range severla times, but still couldn’t. If it breaks past it, I’ll try to enter around $3.60 range. This is added on my Top 5 for play.

VVTV: Choppy action! What’s going on! I’ve no idea! It’s barely gone up, but wants to go down. Too unpredictable. GONE!

ALXA: First red day, but still choppy. Scary movements. Volume is fading. Traders can’t seem to figure out what to do with the Alexza acquiring another company. It will probably fade as it couldn’t break the $3.00 mark. Leaving this in my watchlist just for confirmation it will still go down. Room left till low $2’s.

GWSC: It flatten out at $1.70. GET IN WHILE YOU STILL CAN AND SHORT SHORT SHORT! Still room till around low $1.00 range. That’s still 50-60% free returns for ya! Granted, it may take several days and weeks to reach there. But free none the less.

MIPI: OOhh. Almost missed this one. A pharmaceutical company released news of its new clinical data. The big word is “can MAYBE detect blah blah blah”. Haha, gotcha! If it breaks the $6.00 entry point, I’m in. Lots of potential till around $5 range. Look for a 10% return on this one. I was hoping it’d climb higher, but it’s already climbed 42% on 1.4 million shares. It could climb higher, and I’m hoping so, but this is only on news itself. It went as high as $7.90 for the day. It went as high as 60% for the day. Oh well.  Added to my Top 5!

MEA: This stock has gone up 17.33% on…nothing? I’ve no idea. I’m not sure if it’s a buy or not, but the volume has increased. Added to watchlist. Maybe some news will come out.

AIM: I wasn’t going to add this. I really wasn’t. But on closer look, the company is in pretty bad shape. It holds about 6million in debt with no number for cash on hand. Furthermore, the revenues to be generated on its new long-term supply contract will net in only 10 million. They’ll need a bit more before they can get out of the hole. They’ve had their first red day today. I’m hoping for another morning panic to prove I am right. Added to my Top 5.

MTMC: This stock has climbed on word that it has gotten more financing. However, it received financing back in June 4th, climbed up, gapped up, and went red for the next day. I’m betting that this will happen as well tomorrow. Though, it did hit a high of $2.74, more than 100% return for the day before fading. Added to my Top 5.

Anyways. That’s all for the day. FAZ definitely made some movement. A 5% up meant that today the market went down. Anyways, look forward to my next post. I’ll be listing out why I’m changing up brokers and hopefully be able to take advantage of some of my picks!

Argh! Watchlist for tomorrow done early!! Cleanin’ the list.

FUCK THIS. I’ve had enough of not being able to wake up on time. I hit my alarm clock at 6:15am, but I was still too tired. It is now 3:48pm and I’m going ahead and writing up this damn watchlist so I can go to bed at 10pm tonight!

Here we go! Let’s see how we did today:

Top 5 (Huh? Wha? A 6th!)
ESLR: +1.68% Broke the $2.40 resistance, went up, then came back down.
MAPP: +3.66% Could not break the $11 mark. Back to its trading range.
GLUU: +1.60 Gaped up even higher and then a morning panic sell off.
MLNK: -1.96% Punctured the resistance at $7.00, then came down to support.
DSCO: -14.96% Could not break the $1.40 and sank to $1.10 range.
GWSC: -23.55% Open above $3 and had a morning sell off.

Main watchlist
JAZZ: -16.89% Opened below the $4.50 mark and faded very nicely for the day.
VVTV: +0.34% Opened below previous day and sored up 2hrs before closing.
STAA: -8.29% Right off the get go, broke the $2.00 mark in 10 mins and faded down.
CPST: -16.52% Gaped down even further after releaseing financial data.
SVNT: -0.11% Halted shares. Movement based on after-market.
NEPH: -22.86% Faded nicely after opening below yesterday’s close.
ACAS: -9.11% Pre-market high of $5 before fading all day.
CYCC-11.72% Choppy fading action today. Broke supports of $1.40 and $1.25.
AEZS: +6.33% Faded slowly after gaping up then rebounding last 2 hrs. ZZZzzzz.

Ok, the important stuff now. Gotta narrow down the watchlist further.

ESLR: Removed. The stock looks to have hit its $2.40 resistance. Even if it goes down further, it will have quite a bit more resistance to breka through. Not interested in it much.

MAPP: This stock refuses to die. I think it is now back to ints trading range and will have a much tougher time breaking the $11.00. I’m not going to wait around when there are so many more plays available out there. I love this! I can be so fickle and its ok!

GLUU: This had its first red day, though the Bulls and Bears were quite even here. I’m still having this as my Top 5. I’m expectin git to go down if it can now break the $1.60 support. I’m hoping it’ll have a 2nd day down. Most likely it will. Will jump in if it spikes up too quickly. Any spiking action.

MLNK: Another stock that performed quite well. Had its first red day. It had a 8.45% trading range today. However, the stock had released good news back on June 9th and looks to be residual trading euphoria. Removed.

DSCO: Could not break the $1.40 mark and so it faded for the day. Not bad, not bad. However, I think that’s it for its potential. Lots of support around $1.00. I’m out and removed.

GWSC: It hurts to look at this chart each time. Its so beautiful! Still lots of potential to go down to $1.75 range. Sigh. I HATE Questrade. Can’t wait to get in with TOS. I’ll try to enter in at whatever price possible. Not on my Top 5 but still in my watchlist.

VVTV: This one had a green day and could not really break the $1.45 mark. Will keep an eye on. Lots of movement on this one still. However, fading volume.

STAA: Company’s stock is now fading lower. It has broke the $2.00 mark. Some downside to $1.50. But I’m not going to bother. Gone!

CPST: As stated, it has done poorly based on its financial results. It’s tanking futher. Some more resistance at $0.80 mark. I’ll keep it just to watch it go down further. But I probably won’t play.

SVNT: Halted shares. No action today. Horrendous chart. Removed.

NEPH: Ooh, this one had side action all day today an dfinally tanked. Interesting, INTERESTING! Removed. Little downside left.

ACAS
: Had its first red today. Though, it did open higher. I don’t execpt much more out of it. Lots of resistance going down to $3 and will fade quite slowly. Removed.

CYCC: Had its first down day today. It broke through the $1.25 mark and even my $1.40 entry price too. There’s still some downside available. I’d like to see it breaks the new $1.20 mark first before I get in. Had its first red day, will most likely go down again. Watchlisted and Top 5‘d.

AEZS: Released some good drug news. Another pharmaceutical company, but the volume is too low for today. Only 300,000. Not good. It did gap up yesterday. But I’m done with it.

ALXA: This pharmceutical company released good news about acquiring another company. Done after market hours yesterday, hence the run up today. I will look to see if it opens higher tomorrow and short it. But only if the price action warrants it. Just sitting on the sidelines and added to the watchlist.

PGV: Finance company that has gone up lots. In fact, it opened around $5 and climbed up to $10 in the first 15 mins. It has broken multi-year support after $6.00. I’ll look to short it tomorrow. There’s been no news lately. Looks to be a bull raid. Have to be careful though. Only 194,000 shares traded. Price action dictates the play. Added to my watchlist and Top 5.

EMKR: This Solar company had won a contract with NASA. It had spiked quite high pre-market and even bounced back up after going down to the same highs at $1.70. However, it faded for the rest of the day and broke the $1.50 mark. Currently at $1.45 range. If it can break the $1.40 mark, the multi-day support, I will jump in. Hopefully, I can find some share for this one. Added to my Top 5.

ALVR: This stock has gone up. Over 14% jump pre-market. It went down a bit, and then got pushed near the end of the day. I expect it to continue up higher. It looks like it was able to break teh $3.60 mark. But we’ll see tomorrow whether it can or not. This is a WIFI company? Anyways, no news and has gone up. If it breaks down past the $3.60 support, I’m in around $3.51 or lower. If it breaks past the $3.75 mark, I’m longing then. Added to my Top 5.
